AFI® Automotive Intentions and Purchases Study
The AFI® Automotive Intentions and Purchases Study (AIP) is a monthly and quarterly tracking study which monitors consumer demand for new cars and trucks. The AIP Study, which has been conducted continuously in the U.S. since 1982, captures consumers’ expectations for this next automotive purchase and identifies changes in demand as consumers’ purchase horizons narrow. The pre-purchase demand metrics collected from the AIP study allow you to:
- Uncover changes in consumer preferences—particularly important in detecting emerging segment and new niche models
- Modify marketing programs in order to address shifts in vehicle demand at a macro (industry/segment) and micro (make/model) level
- Diagnose and address brand health issues such as Loyalty and Conquest through such measures as Source of Intentions and Intended Loyalty—long before they are reflected in post-purchase measures
